About

Hi I’m Katie – I love health & wellness (especially nutrition)!

I have a strong background in health with a BA in Psychology from the University of Washington (Go Dawgs!) and MS in Nutrition from Bastyr University. I am currently completing my dietetic internship (a requirement before sitting for the national registered dietitian’s exam) at the University of Houston.

Over the last couple of years I’ve gotten to work in the fitness industry as an instructor at Pure Barre and Educator at lululemon. I also had the experience of working in private practice and at a nutrigenomics (how food effects our gene expression) company! All while following my passion to become a dietitian – and so close to finally being there.

The last six months in supervised practice has given me the opportunity to work with a variety of medical conditions in both clinical acute and outpatient settings. I have also gotten to support community nutrition programs, develop healthier recipes, and provide 1:1 counseling.

There is so much information out there about the best workout and diet – often times the claims don’t have very much evidence (if any) to back them up. The food we eat is one of the major players in our health, so I’ve created Katie’s Kitchen to share healthier recipes, scientifically supported nutrition tips/education, and give you inspiration to support your overall health.

Let’s get cooking!
